Miriam Nemeth
Miriam Nemeth is our Deputy Litigation Director and Chief Counsel. In this role, she helps to manage our trial-level movement litigation and supports prisoner organizing behind the walls and in the community. Before coming to Rights Behind Bars, Miriam served as the Litigation Director and Interim Justice Project Director (with a focus on prisoners’ rights work) at Advancement Project. She has also worked at Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll LLP, Goodman & Hurwitz PC, and as a law clerk on the Sixth Circuit and the Eastern District of Michigan. Miriam began her work in the prisoners’ rights field as a co-director of the Prisoners’ Legal Education Project at the University of Pennsylvania Law School in the late 2000s.
