Parker v. LeBlanc

5th Cir. No. 21-30446

We argued this case in the Fifth Circuit, on behalf of a client who was kept in prison for 337 days past his mandatory release date. This is a persistent problem in the Louisiana Department Public Safety and Corrections. There have been numerous lawsuits by people in similar situations. In a published opinion in this case, the court ruled that this constitutional violation was clearly stablished, overcoming qualified immunity and setting an important precedent for other people in Louisiana who have been held illegally beyond their release date.
